12th Festival of Japan


Considered one of the biggest events in the world of Japanese culture, and the largest in Latin America, the Festival of Japan brought many musical shows, cultural attractions, dances, cuisine, special exhibitions and ativadades for children.

This year, the Migrant Expo opened its doors to the public during the three days of the festival (17, 18 and July 19), held since 1998 by Kenren (Federation of Associations of Provinces Japanese in Brazil), the event aims to promote and preserve culture and Japanese traditions, and also helps organizations and social welfare projects.

Today is part of the official calendar of Tourism and State of São Paulo, and the festivities celebrating the 101 years of Japanese immigration to Brazil.

The festival has a variety of activities and artistic presentations, on the main stage acts such as Mariko Nakahira, Mauricio Miya, Karen Ito, and Joe Hirata Edson Saito.

Saturday 18/07, the great feeling of accomplishment was the Miss Festival of Japan in 2009, which established Mizuho Larissa Romani, 19, selected by a jury, among them, Miss Centennial, Karina Nakahara, and Miss Festival japan 2008, Jessica, Aoki. The parade of candidates were wearing clothes made with recycled materials, happi (short cotton kimono), bikini and evening dress. Adriana Nishida, the Holy Spirit, and Thais Akita, Bahia did not participate.

In the area of sports, there were also presentations of dance, martial arts, taiko and international singer Tsubasa.
